1. Introduction
Cognautic Desktop (“Cognautic”, “the Application”, “we”, “our”) is an agentic AI desktop application
designed to provide AI-driven system interaction through a graphical interface.
This Privacy Policy explains how data is handled, how AI-initiated actions work, and where
responsibility lies when using Cognautic Desktop.
By installing or using Cognautic Desktop, you agree to the terms of this Privacy Policy.
2. Software Availability and Distribution
Cognautic Desktop is source-available software.
Users may view, modify, and build the source code for personal use only. Commercial use,
redistribution, resale, sublicensing, or offering the software as a service is strictly prohibited
without explicit written permission. Modified versions may not be distributed for commercial or
public use.
3. Data Collection and Telemetry
Cognautic Desktop primarily operates locally on the user’s machine. We do not collect personal data,
credentials, or file contents. However, to improve system reliability and understand tool
performance, the application may collect anonymous usage telemetry.
3.1 Anonymous Usage Metrics: We may track events such as application launches and
the specific tools or commands executed by the AI. This data is fully anonymized—we can see that a
specific action occurred, but we have no technical means of identifying the user or the specific
system that initiated it.
3.2 Third-Party AI Providers: Any data processed by the application remains under
your control unless transmitted to a third-party AI model provider (e.g., OpenAI, Anthropic) chosen
by you. Cognautic Desktop is not responsible for the privacy practices of those external providers.
4. Agentic AI Behavior and Tool Execution
Cognautic Desktop functions as an agentic AI interface. The AI model may request execution of
system-level tools, including but not limited to file access, command execution, or automation.
4.1 Confirmation Mode (Default): Each AI-requested tool call is displayed to the
user. No tool is executed without explicit user approval.
4.2 No-Confirmation Mode (Advanced / Unsafe Mode): Allows tool execution without
user approval. By enabling this mode, the user acknowledges that actions occur automatically and may
affect system stability. Cognautic Desktop assumes NO responsibility for damage caused in this mode.
5. Liability Disclaimer and User Responsibility
You are solely responsible for the AI model you choose, the permissions you grant, and the mode you
enable. Cognautic Desktop is not liable for AI model behavior, user-approved actions, or actions
executed in No-Confirmation Mode.
6. Security Considerations
Users are strongly advised to review tool calls carefully, avoid No-Confirmation Mode unless fully
understood, and avoid running with elevated system privileges.
7. Changes to This Policy
This policy may be updated at any time. Continued use of the application constitutes acceptance of
the updated policy.
